Round 11 Yabbies First XV

Round 11 of the Oilsplus South West Rugby Competition sees the Young Yabbies take the long bus trip over to play the Condobolin Rams in Condobolin This week sees only a couple of changes to the line-up, but includes a bit of a shuffle in the back line.

The Forward Pack

The Front Row will see the return of Jesh Smith to the starting line-up as Tight Prop. Jesh will be alongside the Hooker Will Munday who will be flanked on his left by Loosehead Prop Hagon Williams. The Second Row this week sees Hamish Kaveney returning to the fold and partnering up with Dan Cormie. Flanking on the side of the scrum this week will be Dan Parker and the Irish Recruit Kevin McLaughlin. Dan Dowson is expected to lead the pack from the back this week in the No. 8 position.

The Backs

The Backs this week will be commanded, as usual, by Brendan Shoard as Flyhalf, with his partner in crime Captain Coach Ned Mullany as Scrumhalf. The Centres this week see Owen Griffiths coming forward to take on Inside Centre and partner up with the Nick Schiller as Outside Centre. The Yabbies Wingers are cementing themselves in with some outstanding performances from Beau O’Connor and Hugh McInerney. James Schiller will hold the fort at the back this week, and will undoubtedly look for any opportunity to get his hands on the ball, running on as Fullback for the Yabbies.

The Bench

This week the Yabbies’ First XV will be complemented by a string of high-calibre substitutes including Ben Fuller, Tom Wills, Cam Rosser, Rowan Daley, Matt Reid and Mick Hudson.

Following a close match in Round 4 of the Oilsplus South West Rugby Competition, which saw Young take the chocolates 31-14, the game this weekend is expected to be another high-octane hit out between 4th & 5th on the ladder.

Coach Ned Mullany is confident that the squad named has the ability to get another Win on the board this weekend. “We're still going from strength to strength and building as a squad. The energy we've had at training has been awesome these past few weeks. This week it's all about keeping things simple, stick to the structures we've been training and maintain our composure in defence. It's a long bus trip, so we just need to make sure that we hit the ground running when we get to Condo.”

The weather for this weekend is expected to be a bit warmer, with a top of 20°C predicted for this Saturday in Condobolin, with the chance of rain! As always, a Rugby match means that there is a high chance of some delicious cold beers for Supporters on the sidelines and in the Oilsplus South West Rugby Competition it means that there is an excellent chance of some highly competitive and entertaining Rugby.

So search for any excuse you can find to make sure you're down at the Condobolin Rugby Club to see the Young Yabbies take on the Condobolin Rams this Saturday 29th June, with kick off at 3.15pm.

Always remember - Saturday’s a Rugby Day!
